The Grow & Win Online Learning Platform, established in 2021, aims to equip Burmese immigrants in the United States with the knowledge and skills to manage their finances. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the founder, Win Myat Thu, recognized that many members of the Burmese immigrant community were facing significant difficulties due to their limited understanding of financial concepts and lack of knowledge about safe investment options. Many individuals were keeping their money in low-yielding checking accounts or even keeping cash at home without understanding how to invest or plan for retirement. This financial illiteracy made them vulnerable to scams. Additionally, the small size of the Burmese immigrant community means that it is not provided with the same resources and accommodations as other minority groups. There are no official educational materials translated into the Burmese language, and financial institutions and government agencies rarely offer informational materials in Burmese. Win Myat Thu, founded the platform with a goal to empower and educate the community in the basic concepts of finance, investment, retirement planning and creating wealth.
